People describe the experience of being centered in different ways, but usually, when you say that you feel centered, it means that you feel relaxed and aware, with plenty of energy, and at the safe time, you most likely feel calm, safe, secure and at ease. You are aware of yourself, your feelings, your thoughts, and you are aware of whats going on around you. You may even feel as if the world is slowing down.
Here are 3 easy and simple steps that you can take to center yourself. You can use these steps in a variety of situtations: whether you are about to enter a situation that will require you to do your best, or even if you find yourself feeling not on-center for some reason. This is what you do:
Step One: Take Note of Your Surroundings
Notice the here and now. Notice THAT you are here now. Use your five senses. Noticing what you see can help you to center yourself. You see these words on the screen. Notice the sounds that you hear, the feelings you feel, like a chair under you or the temperature of the air, and enjoy being here now. Notice what you can smell notice any taste in your mouth. Its easy to experience how paying attention to your present moment experience helps you to center yourself in your present moment.
Step Two: Breathe and Relax
Breathe in and hold it for a moment then breathe out and as you breathe out, relax a little more. And breathe naturally, simply noticing your breath. Each breath has the power to relax you even more. Breath how you REALLY feel like breathing and that may feel quite good.
Step Three: Focus!
Focus on your task. DIVE into it boldly, courageously, let your actions of the moment be your entire world. Keep your mind on your actions and any moment that your mind waivers, simply return it to your task. Joyfully focusing can be a refreshing, even energizing experience. Enjoy it!
It doesnt matter if your task is work-related, a hobby, or a family activity. Living your life to the fullest means that you live this moment to the fullest. When you are working, focus on that joyfully. When you are playing, focus on just playing!
This ability, when used frequently, is life-changing. When you are present in the moment, you make good decisions and do your best. Making good decisions creates a good life. Enjoy being centered, making good decisions about what you eat, how you drive, how you interact with people, how you keep your commitments, and what commitments to make.
Doing your best is a clear ingredient for success. When you are focused wholehearted on playing with your children, your children will know you as awesome to play with. When you are focused wholeheartedly on your work, the your results you create wont be mediocre: theyll be excellent.
And it all starts with you, centered in this moment feeling good making a good decision.
