The Wimmers Drinks History

There is one brand of soft drink that is well known, a brand that when you hear it makes you think of quality, taste and refreshment. Wimmers softdrinks first started in Australia when Franz Wimmer brought with him from Germany, the experience to brew soft drink on the sarsaparilla root. He went on to gain more valuable experience in cordial factories in Queensland and started Wimmers softdrinks in a factory located in Nambour in 1909. The factory went on to be owned and run by Franz's son and goods were delivered by horse and cart.

The beginnings of a good thing. -

One of the first orders for Wimmers was a large one from the Salvation Army. They prepared the order by working tirelessly day and night for many weeks. The order consisted of a considerable amount of horehound beers and brewed hop. After 66 years the company was in need of a change so the original factory was knocked down and replaced with a new one. The original and unique Wimmers softdrinks were brought back in and held their own against competitors such as Coke and Pepsi. So popular have been the Wimmers softdrinks that other companies have tried to recreate the flavors. Lemon, Lime and Bitters and Double Sars were front line products for Wimmers and later on included and pioneered the very popular flavors of Raspberry and Lemonade and Lime Cooler. To this day, the Wimmers Lemon, Lime and Bitters is still a classic favourite.

The small companies can survive. -

After WW II, many of the small softdrink companies stopped producing for themselves and ended up as agents for Coke and Schweppes. Wimmers have shown that the small bottlers can survive with a bit of hard work and determination.Today you can find Wimmers softdrinks being sold in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and NZ and Their high standard soft drinks have been exported to such countries as Japan and Saudi Arabia, entering a market that is usually not easy to gain access to. Due to popular consumer demand, Wimmers also decided to reintroduce their original export brewed ginger beer. In the more recent years, Wimmers have branched out into supplying other market products such as snack foods, juices, water and energy and health drinks. With this added to their ever popular softdrinks, they have enjoyed continued growth in the company.

Wimmers deserves their widespread popularity because of their history in our state. You absolutely can't get a better tasting drink than Wimmers softdrinks.
